Ads with sounds

Ok, so I'm sitting here at work and I decide to pop on my head phones and listen to some music while I'm working. So I fire up winamp and start listening... but I hear this faint noise like there is a fly in the background. I didn't think it was in the song before, so I screw around with it for a little bit thinking I'm losing my mind.

I couldn't figure out what was doing it, but I noticed when I stopped the music that it still did it... and it was a pattern, like it would repeat every 5 seconds or so. So then I get to thinking... I bet it is some stupid ad, and sure enough, good ol' cprog has an ad that you try to smack some fly with a fly swatter to get some prize. And every 5 seconds, the damn fly buzzes.

HOW ANNOYING CAN THESE PEOPLE GET??

I hate that ad. Which page was it on, and what URL was it associated with?

I figured out who they were and blocked the campaigns and all future campaigns from that advertiser.

I posted about that same ad a while ago (in the bugs and strange things sticky) That seriously has to be the most annoying ad ever (my dad even came into my room from across the hall and asked me what the heck it was).

There's an extension for Firefox called Adblock. It's great. You can get rid of ads easily, and you can even specify entire sites to block like "http://ads.fastclick.net*"

Yeah, I know. But you see, the problem is: I hate firefox

Now, when someone decides to write something for Opera that does ad-blocking, I'll stop making threads about this.

You could just write your own

I have to ask, though, why do you hate firefox?
