Not for me. But I steer clean of the management side of things - would rather be coding.

IMO it's only worth it to stay on the technical side of things if you can find a company that truly respects its technical talent. Too many companies treat the smart/talented people like slaves, basically "here go do all this stuff that is super-critical for our business, get it done yesterday, but I'm going to pay you jack, and you'll get no respect from anyone because no one cares and you're replaceable, even if you're the best in the department." Might not be the case entirely in the software world, but it is in the engineering world.
Relevant, starting my MBA in 2 weeks. Going to the dark side to be one of the douches to tell everyone else what to do and take credit for what others do, because that's apparently what's fair in this douchebag country.
Try to apply that MBA to a startup or a startup of your own. Usually (usually) startups are better working environments as far as inter-personal relationships are concerned. There's also usually plenty of hipsterism going around with their radical and untested BS theories of working environment and whatnot, typical of those idealistic young adults managers who think that at the age of 20 and some they already know all about the world and don't recognize they are making everyone their personal guinea pigs on their egotistical quest for being proven right. But I always thought of that as a lesser evil and besides... sometimes those untested bs theories do work... even if only on their company.
Douchebaggery (is that right?) is everywhere mate. Not just USA. All of a sudden we are living in strange times. I'm getting all cranky and pessimist looking at the nonsense of it all. Was confessing a few days ago a growing feeling of distaste for mankind that I can't seem to be able to scratch off. All the stupidity you are experiencing there, along with a fallen Europe that is moving into reverting nearly 50 years of cooperation and peace, the China Sea conflict that seems is going to drag us all in, the secular financial and economic crisis that started in 2008 and will likely not go away for the next 2 or 3 decades, the utter vain and inane nonsense of the Pokemon Go craze... Heck, I've even started reading books like The Conspiracy Against The Human Race, for the first time in my life making full sense of the most hard pessimist and nihilist thinking like that of Schopenhauer or Zapffe that would make even Nietzsche blush.
