    Am I the only one??

    HARLEM SHAKE

    I feel that this new trend is, at least, ridiculous. Many videos of it uploaded in my news feed on Facebook recently and yet, are more to come. Youtube has a large number of videos relevant to this.

    I have seen one-two videos of it and to me, there are some bunch of people, dressed in a -supposed funny way- ridiculous way and -supposed to be dancing- doing some strange moves, with some -supposed music- playing on the background.

    Students of my university, are going to make one on Friday, inside the university, inspired from other universities around the globe (Toronto's and more).

    First gangam style and now harlem shake. Is the ridiculous always selling? :/

    Meh, they're doing something fun (for themselves) and not hurting anyone in the process, so... yeah...

    I just learned about this, and I agree in that I find it stupid and ridiculous. But that's just my opinion.

    As to whether it's just "fun" or "isn't hurting anyone" - if people do this nonsense in an academic environment where other people are trying to concentrate on learning, then indeed it is a problem.

    I think that they do it in free time or when the amphitheater has not a course. Doing that, when somebody wanted to study at the same time they would do, I think is way too much. I hope this is the case.

    However yes, they do what they want and I am not going to tell them what to do. I am judging the trends, that with the help of globalization and marketing have conquer the youth. Gangam style and harlem shake. If these are what young people are fond of, something really meaningless and ridiculous, then I would say that this concerns me a lot.

    I am only 20 years old, but I wouldn't like my children to have these two "things" as favorite.

    O_o

    Really?

    So then, "planking", "tebowing", "owling", and all other such crap didn't bother you?

    *shrug*

    Anyway, I must admit to having seen one "Harlem Shake" video I found enjoyable; the "Slender does the Harlem Shake" video I watched was worth the few seconds it lasts.

    Yes, but only for a time. The things I referenced were the popular flavor of stupidity for a time.

    Soon enough some other stupidity will take over as the popular living meme so you'll see that everywhere instead.

    Here's to that moment when you see a new trend and say, "That's just ridiculous"...

    And then realise that most of the things that you considered cool as a teenager are also ridiculous.

    It has to be popular so that Charlie Brooker can make fun of it during the 2013 Wipe. This is right up his alley.

    you live on a planet with 7 billion other people. of course you're not the only one :P

    I hate the harlem shake too. my boss tried to get me to join in when they were doing a company-wide harlem shake video, and I politely declined.

    Just one of a million silly memes... It's hardly the only thing going around right now.
    Code:
    //try
    //{
    	if (a) do { f( b); } while(1);
    	else   do { f(!b); } while(1);
    //}
