Visual C++ 2010/2012 Express does not want to install on Vista Ultimate x64

Before you ask, yes, upgrading to Win 7 is out of the question, I only have a license of this OS and for the moment there's nothing that I can do about it.

Now, I've tried installing Visual C++ 2010/2012. But after a few "successful install!", I go to the Start menu and see... nothing... no reference to Visual Studio whatsoever.

Has anyone else had this annoying problem?

    O_o

Have you tried looking elsewhere? (As in, open a file browser and try and run one of the many IDE components directly.)
