Forumn crapping out?

Hello,

I've noticed the past few days that there have been numerous Database errors when trying to access the forums as well as general slowness.

I also just noticed now that there is some glitch where the forum is double posting everything I post (only today?) and I'm quite positive I'm not clicking Submit multiple times.

The only thing that does happen is the forum keeps claiming that I need to wait 13 seconds between posts (when its been well longer then that?). It seems like when that error occurs it posts the message anyway but tells me it didn't then I click submit again and end up with a double post (because it errored out the first time...)

Just wondering if I'm going crazy or if this is a known issue

Yeah, crazy stuff like this happens from time to time.

I deleted your dupe post.

If it craps out just as you post, it's worth checking the thread using another browser tab (when the board comes back) just to make sure whether you posted or not.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

Your mouse could be suffering from contact bounce and sending a pair of mouse button signals.

So you might get an actual submission for the 1st mouse button signal, and a message about submitting too soon for the 2nd signal.
Then of course when you submit again, you get two.

I'll try double clicking fast when I submit this and see if I get a similar message.

So you're assuming the keyboard switches are not protected against debounce?

[edit]

Or is this sarcasm!? I can't tell

They are protected I believe. They can also develop problems though, with wear or maybe just a malfunction.
I've had mouses transmit double pulses with one click intermittantly. They would do things like close a window
and also close the window under it. New mouse, no more problems.

The double click was a test to try and simulate contact bounce.
I wasn't insinuating "operator error".

Just edited to add this:
For the test on the previous post, only got one post and no messages.

Won't probably work as expected. Your browser should be able to differentiate between a click and a double click event as per the GUI framework it uses. A double_click is identified as a single click when it has no associated code, as per the design guidelines on the major operating systems. If there is any code associated to a double_click, it will ignore the single_click code.

I just responded to a thread using Google Chrome - (And it just happened again replying to this post)

I'm getting a warning message saying that the page has become unresponsive and I have to kill and reload the page.

There is definitely something going on with this site in the past few days...

Code:
---------------------------------------------------------
Page(s) Unresponsive:
---------------------------------------------------------
The following page(s) have become unresponsive. You can
wait for them to become responsive of kill them.

Good point. If it's fast (and it was), it will look like a double click, not two single clicks.

You sure that's not part of your problem????
Right 98% of the time, and don't care about the other 3%.

If I seem grumpy or unhelpful in reply to you, or tell you you need to demonstrate more effort before you can expect help, it is likely you deserve it. Suck it up, Buttercup, and read this, this, and this before posting again.

It's never been a problem before this week

I went away to have lunch, and when I returned to my desk, the problem no longer seems to be here...

I didn't turn off my computer, nor close the browser...

I don't know what fixed it...

I remember the Microchip forum was having trouble a few years ago - It turned out that a Chinese company was making a clone of the website and the downloading was slowing the website down.

I have run into these same issues. I have seen the database error for about 2 months now.

I have only had the double post once, and it took a really long time to post so I guessed my browser got no response so It resent the post, but the site received both.

Don't really know for sure, but the first error I can confirm happens a couple times a week. A refresh usually doesn't fix it. Generally takes about 5 min to get the site back up. It's also possible someone was adjusting or editing the database.
