Why is there always shortage of women

    Hello,

is it just me or do you also experience that any time you go somewhere (especially for entertainment) there is always many more men then women.

I mean I was at this party the other night and there were 16 guys an 4 girls. I dont have many experiences where this was any different.

It is a miracle to find self in a situation where there are actually more girls then guys, I dont remember that happening ever.

Usual ration of men and women (while attending some entertainment activity) is about 5:1 in my experience.

    How about you?

Find a cinema that's still showing Mama Mia, go to the matinee. No more shortage of women. Though they will probably think your not interested in them by virtue of the fact that have paid to see Mama Mia.

Occasionally I get my hair cut from a salon instead of a barber. If you want to find girls, try looking for them in places that cater to them.

When was the last time you went to a mall? Or shopping in general.

Generally speaking, anyone who is choosey, or who insists on going to places that cater for their own gender, will perceive a shortage of the opposite sex.

Australian talk shows - which cater more to women than men - regularly report on a phenomenon known as "man drought". Statistically, IIRC, 48% of the population is male, but about 90% of the population believes there is a shortage of the opposite sex.
Right 98% of the time, and don't care about the other 3%.

grumpy sums up this phenomenon very well. Right now, there are hundreds of millions of events and interactions going on all around the world. It would be overwhelming to consider even just what is happening in a ten mile radius around you. Your observations (and everyone else's) are severely limited to a handful of experiences. Therefore, it would not be statistically sound to to make such a hypothesis with any validity. You might have an acquaintance with the exact opposite observation - just by virtue of different conditions, interests, personality, etc.

I agree with you on that one. I do that time to time, I dont have a problem talking to a complete stranger on the street / shop / subway, pretty much anywhere. Its more that people in Czech Republic (where I am now) are not generally used to talking to strangers, but time to time it works if one knows how to handle it.

Exactly my point. Now I would like to find a logical explanation to it and find a solution how to avoid thinking that.

Agreed. I gotta admit one thing. I was in this little place yesterday where they serve mostly wine and it was full of women from all different age groups. Perfect place to make a move.
The only thing that is not that great about meeting complete strangers here in CZ is that people are not really used to it and they dont particularly like being talked to by a complete stranger.

A logical explanation? I already gave one. The solution is to adopt more realistic standards so you don't unduly reduce the pool of eligible women available to you. A guy who only insists on women meeting some unrealistic ideal won't find many eligible women. There are no guarantees, but a guy will increase his chances if he is willing to accept and enjoy the company of good women who are not perfect.

I dont think that is the issue here. The issue is to find a place where women hang out. Lets not put into consideration profile of those women, that is completely different area of discussion.

My observation is different. A lot of guys, when they find a place with plenty of available women, start being extra picky. Women do likewise. So a lot of men and women end up disregarding each other. Different cause, same end result.

That said, try working out what places women would go because there is something that interests them. And go to those places - preferably in a way that is legitimate. Women might look askance at a man joining them in a woman only club.

I will let you know whether my judgement changes once I find a place with lots of women. I cant say for sure right now as I am not aware of such places.

At my College, the building that I am in only has a better that 50% women in the interior design classroom (normally 75% or more women in the room; not counting myself). So far, I have only taken 2 classes (in my normal building) that had more than a single women in it.

Note: Most of the other building has more women that men; but, my building is the Computer, Technology, and Engineering building.
