I was curious if anyone knew of any programmer conventions like a comic con; except for programming. I live in new jersey and if anyone knows of any in the tri state area please let me know.

Best thing to do would be to walk into your local bar on a Friday night, get a drink and start talking VERY LOUDLY ABOUT YOUR IPHONE. Any programmer types will stick their heads up like meerkats who have just heard something really stupid being said.

Even better, I'm lead to believe that it works on chicks too.

Is this a friendly joke or sarcasm?

On a serious note, I actually went to the trouble of joining my country's professional society for this kind of thing (yes, I even pay for the privilege) and was decidedly underwhelmed by the programming crowd there. "Can I use +RW in my DVD player?" is an example of a complex question that has been fielded.

YMMV but I certainly can't help you with this one.
