    My router doesn't like js.cprogramming.com :(

I decided to start using my old router again ( Asus RT N10+).
Is there anything special at js.cprogramming.com that makes it pause at that for dozens of seconds ? (Firefox's status bar showing "Read js.cprogramming.com")

I have not noticed anything similar with other websites..and the delay does not happen when using the DSL modem directly without the router.

I would make sure it's not something else. This could be caused by an imaginably huge number of different things. For example, maybe your using a different box/OS/browser with each router.
Anyway, if your convinced the difference lies with the router, I would do a tcpdump on the traffic, to see where it falls appart. Also, you say router, and if it isn't a modem, then you really overkill your troubleshooting by proxying the router's traffic through a box, and do dump on it too, to give you more insight.

I get a similar phenomenon on a regular, almost daily, basis. And have been for several months.

It is nothing to do with my router/modem configuration.

It appears to be either related to the server that js.cprogramming.com (which resolves to cboard.cprogrammingcom.netdna-cdn.com IP 67.201.31.52) stalling, or network traffic to that server.

In practice, I observe the symptom most often in late morning through to mid afternoon, Zulu time, but there are occurrences around the clock. That leads me to suspect it is related to network traffic and possibly server load, probably related to people waking up and hopping online in USA and Canada.

When I see my browser reporting for a long time that it is waiting on js.cprogramming.com, pinging that address directly shows 100% packet loss. Practically, cboard.cprogramming.com becomes unreadable when that happens so, when it happens, I go and do something else.

Hi guys, I'm sorry to hear about these issues--js.cprogramming.com is supposed to make the site *faster* not slower; it's a CDN, after all. I don't personally experience the issues (but of course the point of a CDN is to distribute things geographically, so it's not surprising that the behavior differs across regions). I've filed a support inquiry with the folks at MaxCDN. I'm going to leave the configuration as-is for the moment, but I will remove the use of the CDN if I don't get a satisfactory resolution.

For the time being, you can work around the issue by redirecting js.cprogramming.com, im.cprogramming.com, and av.cprogramming.com to the same IP address as cboard.cprogramming.com: 76.74.254.184 This will remove any speed benefits you normally get from the CDN, though.

I got a very quick follow-up asking for some additional troubleshooting information. Can you provide this for me? (Either post here or just email to webmaster@cprogramming.com)

    From MaxCDN support:

1.) Please ask them to visit debug.netdna-cdn.com and forward to us the Datacenter they are hitting.
2.) Please send us a sample test file that is not loading properly on their end.
3.) Please ask them to do a traceroute and forward that information to us.

N.B: The delay is not occurring now, so this may not help a lot. I'll try to post again when it does happen.

I passed along this information to the support folks at MaxCDN, and it's not entirely clear that they made any changes but are asking if the issue is fixed. Can you let me know if you're still seeing problems?

As far as what to do if the problem occurs again and how to tell what file is being requested--I know you can do this with the Chrome developer tools. On Windows, I can get it by Ctrl-Shift-C and then pressing the "Network" tab/button.

It has been better for a week or so, but I can't state that categorically.
But the delay clearly isn't that long anymore, whether they fixed something or my ISP was having troubles because I use an unsupported (according to their docs ) router, I don't know.
I'll try finding out details about the file the next time it happens.

I sent emails to your webmaster address in the last few days,

Like Manasij, I haven't had notable symptoms since it was discussed here. I suppose it's possible MaxCDN folks tweaked something relevant. Or the "car doesn't misbehave for the mechanic" phenomenon. I'll keep an eye out, and report when I have anything of use.

I suggest letting them close the support ticket if you wish. If we subsequently have something to report, get them to re-open it. If not, we'll be happy anyway.

My ISP has had one unscheduled outage that affected my browsing in the last week. My modem is one of the models that my ISP encourages their clients to use (albeit I've locked down firewall settings).

Since our last email exchange in late June, I haven't seen any symptoms.
