    You need help!

I'm not afraid to admit that I'm just the person to give you the help you need.

This is a grave matter indeed. There seems to be a serious lack understanding of what humor is. Go on, read it. I'll wait.

To understand humor, you need to know a few things. That link has the perfect illustration. The first image you will see is how I picture CommonTater.

    *wait for it*

And I'll bet how he sees me is the second picture in that link!

See, now that's funny. Since I'm sure you still won't get what I just did there, go read this link.

Tater isn't hurting my feelings anywhere, so mind your own business.

Drat... and here I thought the plan was working!!

(And LOL... aside from the hat, you're not that far off in your images, my friend...)

A little bit of humour and perhaps the odd affectionate slam or two keeps things interesting and lighter of spirit. The secret is to know when "enough is enough". People learn better when not inundated with cold fact and endless contradiction, if they remember the joke, they remember the lesson...

And, heaven forbid, sometimes we might even make a friend.

Programmers are legeondary in their peculiar form of non-competitive directness...
but also well known for their dry and often subtle sense of humour.

One balances the other and you don't get one without the other.

Really, I've many times seen people here getting all serious and intense over what is most likely a well placed wisecrack...
Y'all need to lighten up just a tad.

    Really ... is this you?

    (Seriously ... that's gotta hurt!)

Some jokes just don't work. But comedians don't complain about it.

I'm not a comedian... whiteflags... I'm just some schmoe who happens to have a functional sense of humour and like to have the occasional joke with some of the friends I've made here... Quzah, Adak, Andrew, etc... and yes even you on occasion. But it seems that's become cause to close threads, just lately... Rather annoying.

I'm kinda glad Quzah went this way... gives me the chance to vent.

This proves you know absolutely nothing about comedy.

Last time I gave you two your own party thread, you just abandoned it.
Up your creek (split) - the CT and Quzah party thread

You can ........ about with the banter as much as you like in the GD forum, but when you start serially derailing threads where people are trying to get answers to questions, the noobs don't want to have to wade through pages of in jokes just to find the next snippet of information.

If we don't moderate, we get the "moderators suck" from one section of the population.

When we do moderate, another section complains - in fact, the same section which has been known to send PM thanks for moderating on someone else's ass, but when they get moderated themselves, it's WAAAAAAAAAA.

Oh, and while you're up there, have a look round for Quzah's ankles, they're bound to be around there somewhere.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

The black and white photo was not aimed at Quzah... it was aimed at some of the humourless twits that hang around here, which as of today, includes you Salem.

First of all, no one had to wade through anything, because he already had his answer. Second of all, he was done with the thread because he had his answer, just like the other thread that was split. Finally, I've never seen anyone start a thread saying moderators suck because they didn't split the jokes from a thread.

Also, the creek of jokes in that thread had just about run dry. Not every thread is an endless ocean, nor does it need to be.

Even if it was, it was still funny. However...

Salem might want to get his eyes checked, because I'm not seeing that how he's seeing it - or at least I don't know what he's hinting at. I'm completely up Tater's ass, and that's supposed to be Tater? I'm not sure what he's trying to say there.

Feet in the mouth I can see, maybe the head's so far up it can see the feet in the mouth? But then what does that have to do with "while YOU're up there ... look for [my] ankles"?

Maybe your sense of humor is just way beyond mine.

ANNND... lets not forget those threads where the OPs have joined us in a little joke as they worked out the problem.

I've watched 2 skits of Monty Python. A series that has been exhalted as the best comody of all time by some people I randomly run in to online. Of the 2, I found only one, small joke humorous. A lot of the humor didn't even make sense to me, but even the rest that I understood, I found to just, not be funny.

Does this mean I have no sense of humor? I thought Quzah's opening crack was funny (although, his spelling it out, (and rant?) somewhat ruined it).
Humor is not realisticly logically defined: er go there is no right or wrong, and you cannot tell others what is funny and not. And yet you do it anyway (yes, CommonTater, and somewhat, Quzah).

It doesn't personally bother me to much (when it remains civil), but seeing this thread, I figure it's the perfect place to highlight your err.

Is CommonTater complaining again no one understands his humor and thus everyone else but him is humorless?

That's the only joke he ever told that I actually laugh at. Love it.
The programmer’s wife tells him: “Run to the store and pick up a loaf of bread. If they have eggs, get a dozen.”
The programmer comes home with 12 loaves of bread.

I don't care if you get the joke or not...
I don't even care if the joke is funny or not.

It's annoying when people take a joke seriously and start these big effing debates about it, like the world is going to end if they don't.
It's confusing to see people blaming the victim and hurling insults instead of discussing the issue.
It's frustrating at times trying to work around some people's stupid biases.

But none of that really bothers me all that much, I usually just put those twits in my ignore list.

What I object to is being cut off because I'm not being deadpan serious all the time.
What I REALLY object to is being cut off from conversing with other board members.

    Starting to get the idea?

Then the answer is simple. Don't try to make a joke out of everything b/c not everyone shares your sense of humor in a community as large as this one. IE: Just as in real life...know your audience.
