We weren't trying. It was a natural thing.

Look, if I want someone to stop making jokes at me, I'll PM everyone and say my feelings were hurt so much that I need you to help me out. Until then, I don't need help. I'm perfectly capable of making my own jokes, or not crying myself to sleep because someone said something mean to me on the internet.

If someone shows up and PMs you and says "Please stop these terrible puns!", then tell me people want me to stop these terrible puns. Don't just pop in and say "I'm closing this because you didn't post enough jokes in the last one I split!", because then you seem like the kid who wasn't included in the fun having a fit over it.

This is pretty much exactly what the other thread was about - people showing up and locking threads for no real reason.

It's pretty sad when two people who obviously enjoy a bit of verbal jousting have to justify the behavior before a throng of people who weren't even there... It's a good thing Andrew, Anduril and Adak weren't there too... I'd hate to see ALL of my friends put on trial over nothing.

    Really... people...

My god... you can't possibly be so arrogant as to think all this is done for your benefit... can you?

I really hate to say this... but it's starting to look like we need Alex to make a "Humour Policy" decision...

(And any sane person should know just how far down Ridiculous Way, that is.)

I'm fine with any level of moderation, but you moderators seriously do need to get your act together and agree on a fixed policy that you care to police. As it is, with bizarrely selective behavior, it does seem as if you have some personal grudge. If you want to close or split threads with lots of off topic comments or insulting behavior I'm all for it, but I'd like to see some consistency. Who knows, if it was consistent people might expect it and behave more inline with those rules.

About as far as threatening to travel hundreds of miles solely to permanently physically harm someone you who mocks you.

First off ... yes the mods do need to get their (stuff) together.

But... mockery is NOT humour... it's cruelty... and yes, people have been hamed --even killed-- over it.
(Hint: it's only funny till you are nursing a broken nose!)

That's exactly where you aren't getting what is being said.

To some, mockery is funny. To some, ribbing is offensive.

They are different measures of the same thing.

You've openly mocked many people who disagree with you.

You've openly threatened people who have mocked you.

You are only drawing the line in a different place.

I thought he had you on his extensive ignore list, phantomotap. You are losing qualities, man. Slacker.

I love how I'm made out to be some sort of humorless idiot. Maybe I'm just funnier. Epsecailly while drunk.

Yeah? Well don't make every little disagreement into the Salem witch trials. That's not what is happening.

Also, anyone else you want to add to those three musketeers?

Pun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I even learn a new good pun from it

Similarly, the joke "Question: Why do we still have troops in Germany? Answer: To keep the Russians in Czech" relies on the aural ambiguity of the homophones "check" and "Czech".

Actually, it's *not* here in Germany. In Germany, humour has always been a serious matter. Just think about German carnival: We have to *organize* fun along the rules of some committee!

Puns are no laughing matter. Someone could get hurt or even mimed! No one wants that.
