Actually I understood that if the mods made a decision you didn't like, you could PM them about it. Usually if you just say that you want to add foo because bar they'll accommodate you somehow. I can't shake the feeling that we've let instances pile up before making this thread.

I've watched mods split threads before but that was usually because two topics were going on at once and not because Alice and Bob wanted to fight. Usually no one even complains as long as Alice and Bob are right some of the time.

The problem I have with that is
What are the rules? it seems like most pepole here dont want the old ones, do we keep the old ones and enforce them or throw them away and make new ones?

and when should the mod take action? for exzample I sent a few pm's nothign has happen, now somehting may I'll admit i dont know whats going bhioned the scences.
but lets say nothing dose then what?
should they be required to warn the user any time a pm is sent?
    ect

Maybe they are all voting to decide if they just flat out perm-ban your worthless ass. Because if I had taken mod position when it was offered, it would already have been done.

I was under the impression that that system was in place as well. However, evidently my guess is the general populace wants to change that. If everyone can be happy about just PMing the mod let's stick with that. If, and it appears this is the case, people want to change it; how hard is it to post in a thread warning people to get back on track? I don't believe that will need to happen that often anyway as this place stays pretty busy.

@shawn: You are no longer in this conversation.

Ok, keeping in mind the suggestion that we warn before we close, this thread is descending into argument and profanity. So I politely ask people to refrain or I will have to close this thread

    Close it...

Just please weigh in on the question of remind - warn - close someplace. I think that much is a good idea.

One last amusing point before this gets locked: I think we've set a new Like record. One final final point: With this, 50% of the threads Shawn has been in have been locked. If anyone else thinks he's not just a troll, I would point you at that.

    LOL...I think so.

For the future, could we all just ignore these individuals. This is the whole reason why many good forums move to a closed style, especially for conversations like the topic that started the thread. I would prefer to keep most of this stuff in the open community.

OK, well the mods are cordial people. AFAIK, they answer PMs about their decisions, always.

We're discussing when the mod should take action (and how), but I am saying presently, they usually take action along with a post explaining why. You can talk to them about that. If a moderator says they will do nothing they will always explain why. If the moderator hasn't said anything yet, make sure you've waited long enough, as they live around the world. There also comes a point where, if you get enough "no" answers, you can save them, reference them, and we have this conversation with a lot more context.

Because really, I don't think the mods are uncooperative and it's more that we don't really do anything but put up with what they do.

I think we've sent the message that being offensive isn't really a concern for the community at large.

    Okay then

I think they are doing just fine as I;ve said
I've snet a pm and I found the mod quite helpful
they tell you why they losed the threads, a warning would be nice to, but still you know when you cross the line
I think we've sent the message that being offensive isn't really a concern for the community at large.
I don't think that matters or at least not to me, if the rules are changed I will gladily step down but in till then I will follow the rules.

Yep, and hence why forums fail or move to a closed style format. Hence, ignore, ignore, ignore! Makes everybody happy.
