    Quzah.
So, to get this thread back on track now that all the nonsense is done, I think Laser was justified in closing the last thread. I do however, think that in some cases the gun may get jumped a little. More often than not though, I think there are more hits than misses.

As for the solution either being a PM from a mod or a message in the thread, I think that is a good idea. Let's face it, sometimes we all could use a little nudge to get back on track. For immediately locking a thread, well that should be the solution of the nudge doesn't work; off course with an explaination, which we do usually get.

You are NOT a moderator, yet here you are telling people with a decade on the board what the rules are.
It is not your place to quote policy or argue their case.

You are not IN the conversation... you are *interfering with* the conversation.

Well, that and you are one massive pain in the azz.

And if you want to see me write STFU out in full --and get away with it-- just you keep right on the way you're going...

I can see where quzah is coming from: the theme of this entire message board is computer programming, especially in C and C++. Hence, a forum that is about things other than programming is "off topic". The Tech Board is another such forum, though it sometimes includes programming topics that do not fall under any existing forum specific to the programming language.
But a topic is picked by the thread not the forum, a GD has a topic about what ever besides programing
say about a sports team, it dose not mean you can go off topic and joke for a whole page about somehting that has nothing to do with said sports team.

From another point of view, a "off topic" forum is not very useful because the only topics that may be posted there must be off topic, but once the topic is posted, it is no longer off topic and hence must be moved.
off topic is also someitmes called "cheep poist"
where you can ahvea thread where its okay to joke for a lot of pahes where its okay to switch form one subject to another.
or it can just be one thread if a forum is to much
this i think would solve the problem, I've sene it work on many forums witht the same problems
English is my first language, I'm just not any good at typing\writing it, I can read and speak it just fine.

LOL...brilliant! I don't even think "quzah's stack" could handle that logic.

Well... lets get the mods to weigh in here...

Is a reminder in thread - warning in PM before closing a thread reasonable to you?

    I'd vote for that...

    It's pretty simple:

You have a thread that is started in a given topic.
Posts are added that don't fit that topic.
The thread is split, and those posts find there way to the appropriate forum.

Now if that happened in the last thread, guess where they would end up? General Discussions. Yeah, that's right. They were in the right place, and, for the record, they were on topic, because the very first post in the thread was not only about cross posting, but it mentioned worried attention of moderators. So that entire discussion was in fact on topic.

Oh I do you think that since you been here longer you can do what you want when you want.

and since I'm the new guy I dont get that right

You are NOT a moderator, yet here you are telling people with a decade on the board what the rules are.
Well lets see here you aks "why are you loking threads" when you keep A. cussing B. getting off topic and the rules clearly say so
aprently you need to see them

It is not your place to quote policy or argue their case.
That may be your ophion i dont follow it and you have no way to inforce it, you may ignore me and thats fine, I really dont care.

You are not IN the conversation... you are *interfering with* the conversation.
By posting on my ophions of the sutation?
to qoute you "just igrnoe it then"

Well, that and you are one massive pain in the azz.
    another rule broken
and you can call me what you want it dose nto matter

And if you want to see me write STFU out in full --and get away with it-- just you keep right on the way you're going...
What do you hope to accomplish by this? getting another thread locked? and then complain about it you donut understand the cussing dose not affect me, i get called worse evrey day day, I also aksed a mod to enforce the rules and give you a warning.
I dont care how logn someone has been on you are no defreint form me when ti comes to the rules
English is my first language, I'm just not any good at typing\writing it, I can read and speak it just fine.

Yeah, I can imagine. People don't like pretentious little hall monitors following them around all day nagging at them.

The biggest difference between you and Tater is that Tater actually provides value to this site. I could make that a rather large list of differences, but for the sake of brevity, I won't.

I like that. A general push and then a specific group PM for the people getting off topic. Sounds pretty reasonable. Step three obviously being locking the thread.

Oh quzah, it was a joke about Laser's recursive comment. Well, I thought it was funny anyway.

GIVE IT A REST? Are you ........ing serious? Someone told you 20 posts ago to shut the ........ up, and you STILL haven't. And don't think it's because we don't want to be defeated by your well thought out arguments, because that is not even remotely close to the truth.

    .
how many pepole told you to give it a rest before? I looked though the posts and a lot.
Also I'm not breaking any rules, unlike you guys.
you cant tell someone to "give it a rest" just cause you don't want someone sticking up for someone else

and for the last time I dont care what you think, stop thiking i care if you belive me or not, I'll post what I belive in
I'm not here to be liked and I'm not here to win agurments

I don't hate you or anything and I know you don't like me, I don't care.
Just know the more you call me names the more you prove my point

Ok, so.....:akward silence:...... what do you think of the proposal quzah? I like it, and in fact I think if we could add a little animated gif of you doing your dance when mods wanted to warn us that would be the best way.
