Anyway ... no matten how many times we encourage them to follow the forums' rules and scolds them if they post their homework or don't so any effort, they just keep coming!

But I ask you this: Is this good or bad? Bad for our sanity, you bet. But good for the site, am I right?

Even when heated debates are warranted or desired by the parts involved. Some of our CBoard moderators abuse their power to close threads not reasoning that heated exchange of words are a necessary (and often even welcomed) part of natural dialogs. Because there's this erroneous notion that an heated exchange of words is not civil. We all must behave our best or mom will lock us in our room.
Shouldn't that be taken up with a proper admin instead of a reply here?

Also, are we discussing people who post at N forums all at once, or post in other forums when they get no answer in one forum after Y time?

I don't care about either one. It doesn't matter to me how long they wait before posting some place else.

That's kind of silly. Hey look, I've gotten no answer to my question in years on this forum. Damn, I just guess I have to give up on that, because I can't ask on any other forum.

I don't have to be the first one to answer a question, but I want my answer to add something to the discussion.

If, on this forum, someone posts an easy question, and someone replied with an adequate answer. Would you reply again with the exact same answer, adding nothing to the discussion? Why or why not?

Quzah is actually saying he doesn't care if they shotgun posts(all at the same time) or wait some undefined Y amount of time. He doesn't,nor I for that matter, care if people cross post. I personally don't see the big deal, I see threads on this forum that after reading I decide it isn't worth my time answering, and move on.

People do that here all the time, and that doesn't really matter either. Sometimes it is just the rewording of the answer that causes the concept to click for the OP.

Ah, right. My bad on that one :/
    Sorry about that.

There's more than one way to answer most questions on the C forum. So I frequently post answers when there has already been one. Also, people tend not to actually read what someone writes, so they commonly end up with five people telling them the same thing over and over.

But no, I don't care if someone repeats what I've said or if I've said what they've said. If someone posts at the same time I do, I don't usually go back and delete what I've written (unless I happen to be wrong and they see something I don't and it makes sense to). It's just not that important to me.

Ah, but that IS adding something to the discussion. Rewording an answer does add value to the discussion, because, like you said, it may help people understand.

I'm not sure what your question is then, because it's nearly impossible for two random people to use the exact same wording to answer something more than "go google that".

So with that line of reasoning cross posting isn't bad at all. Since they may get the same answer 5 times, but worded 5 different ways.

I do believe the uncertainty adds to the equation here, as well.
Do you reply to a topic when you have nothing to add? If what you've wanted to say was already written, would you still add that reply (even if perhaps worded a little differently)?
If the answer is no, how can you guarantee that someone else has not just added what you wanted to add on another forum?

To take that one step further, you copying and pasting your answer is worse than if you had just ignored all the other ones, because if you had not, then someone else might have showed up and answered it a slightly different way, that may have helped them get it, when they didn't with your first reply.

So cross-post-answering is worse than cross-post-asking.
