    We're now running vBulletin 4.1.4

I've upgraded the forums to vBulletin 4.1.4, whose major new feature is that it has a WYSWIG editor for all WebKit based browsers (including auto-save). You can read more about the editor here: https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/entr...ed-by-CKEditor

You may need to do a hard refresh in the browser if you have trouble posting since the entire editor is different.

You can always switch back to source mode by clicking on the upper-left button if you need to fix any new problems caused by this editor.

As usual, please let me know if you run into bugs or other problems with the upgrade.

Can you put the octothorpe for code tags back on the quick reply editor, please and thanks...

Unfortunately, the new editor is more difficult to customize than the previous one. The standard templating mechanism that vBulletin uses no longer lets me tweak these settings, so I would have to manually edit the editor code

Ahhh... OK. Well if the opportunity presents itself. Otherwise, no worries...

The new version is very nice, BTW.

That's fine. That's what we have moderators for. To edit to probable increase in posts without code tags... on this programming forum.

I'm not sure why you expect the number of posts without code tags to increase. Our code tag checker runs on the back-end and should catch any posts that don't have them. The standard editor (not in quick reply) still has the code tag button. As far as I can recall, the old quick reply didn't have the code tag button until CommonTater requested that I add it.

Additionally, the WYSIWYG editor is smart enough to know that code tags put into the control should be parsed as code tags rather than displayed directly in the final text.

I think it's that we enjoyed the reduction in posts without code tags ... but no worries!

Well, my point is that this change shouldn't impact the frequency of posts without code tags. In general, the reason people don't use code tags is that they don't know they need to--to solve that, we have the code tag checker that runs on ever post. If a post contains code without code tags (basically any time curly braces show up), the poster receives an error message explaining how to fix the problem.

Fair point. Totally forgot about that when producing my, now obviously unnecessary, rant.
