OK, so this doofus had twice screwed up on the maths front.
Right about now, I'd be wanting to go over the designs for the buildings, bridges or whatever else he was involved in, to make sure there are no Y2K11 issues, because he thought it wouldn't need to last much longer than that.

Why do you think the congregation is called a flock?
It's so they can be fleeced!

I'm not at all surprised this went on... but for the life of me I cannot fathom why people believe these idiots...

Earth has been spinning around Sol for a few billion years and this guy claims he can predict --to the hour-- when it's all over?

    Really...

    Common sense isn't.

I think this sentence summarizes these morons the best way. And just like CommonTater I can't understand how people can believe these hoaxes, I really can't understand how their brains tick.

In Big Fish you hear a wonderful quote: "It takes all kind of people to make up the world"

Sahkti: I'm thinking their brains stopped ticking about the time they found video games...

Mario: I seriously doubt there is any way to put a positive spin on this... exactly what did he wake people up to, other than empty bank accounts? Trust me, the world is NOT better because of this BS.

Wasn't thinking on any positive aspect to this. Just that it is an unavoidable fact.

Just a few days ago was watching a documentary about nigerian net scams. One of this scams involves posing as someone else on MSN, complete with a fake web cam recording. Even after this guy was shown by the reporter the person he was seeing on the webcam wasn't the person talking to him (by asking the person to pass her hand over her air), he was still convinced he wasn't being scammed into lending her 4,000 USD to bring her back to France. And I find this even more bewildering than believing on doomsday messages.

But if you want to blame someone, don't blame the weak minded. Blame the guy making everyone else believing the world is going to end and drawing a profit from it. Blame also our laws that allow for donations and businesses registered as Entertainment to cash in as long as taxes are payed. Few or no questions asked.

People have reached a new level of gullibility these days. You still have people that think our president is a secret Muslim that wasn't born in the US.

I'm not very big on victim blaming... absolutely buddy is 100% at fault here... I'm just a little bewildered about how people fall for this stuff over and over again... Really... how many scams are exposed and then people --often the same people-- line up for the next one... I just don't get that...

Old saying: "Once bitten, twice shy"...
Other old saying: "Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me"

LOL - the subtext of that quote being "If you start to think for yourself, you'll see that this is a load of bull........".

Let's do a group hug because we don't get fooled twice. And by all means, let's keep playing "the joke is on the conned". We are far smarter than these idiots, haha haha ha... ha!

    ...

When these people get their own air time on some morning show, or when the news disseminate their predictions, that's what p me off. Not that people get fooled into believing it's true. You get all sorts of weak minded people, either by lack of proper education or simply because of their walk of life. Folks join sects where you share your woman with the sect leader or commit mass suicide. Folks have their palm reads, their cards layed out on the table, or for years believe there's life on Mars and canals for distributing water. Welcome to the world. So what?

Instead, every new doomsday prediction is met with all sorts of information distribution by even official public channels that is specifically targeted to make the con artist look like a reputable source. Want to get annoyed at someone? There you have someone. Just don't give me the old and tiring BS "fooled me twice, shame on me". What's the matter with you people!? Fool me 30 times, shame on you for pete's sake! When you are taking advantage of me, my credulousness and my lack of education you are nothing more than a predator. And when the media seems to give credence to your obnoxious behavior (every single freaking time!) they should be as responsible as you. There will always be credulous and stupid people. Swindlers prey on them. It's not the other way around.
