Hi gang... I am wondering what everyone's opinion of "incomplete" websites is... You know that website with the "under construction" sign showing on a key page.
Is this a major problem or just a minor annoyance?

Haven't lost too much sleep so far...
Websites are always under construction, regardless of any particular banner.
There are only two other states which mean much
- abandoned
- deleted
A bit like software really, which goes from betaware to abandonware in one step at some point in it's lifecycle.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.
As long as you have the proper flashing animated gifs to illustrate that your site is under construction everything is fine.
Gifs? You're living in the past. The way you do it now is with a flash (or is you're really badass, silverlight) loading screen that loads an animation of a little man walking down the street and falling down a manhole, followed by the ubiquitous wah wah wah sound of eternal disappointment. Most notably, the animation has to take longer to put together than any content the site will ever host will.
