WoW also has a quit button. Best damn feature of the game.

    EDIT:
Ok, fair enough. That isn't very informative... It's very unlikely that any setting can change the FOV to levels that reach your comfort zone. The problem is that WoW is an online game and thus it needs to hardcode a rather limited set of options regarding FOV. Competitive modes of play would suffer if players were allowed to freely change these settings, as that would give an edge to anyone with larger monitors. I suspect there isn't much that can be done outside a limited set of options.

Motion sickness must be horrible. I never suffered from it. But I think I can imagine the discomfort. A quick look revealed there's these viewport addons... but I suspect that won't help you much.

I don't get motion sickness, but I do get a headache when I play such games too much. Luckily I am not into gaming anyway.

Well, I've sinced turned all the graphics settings to maximum, and can now play for 30+ minutes with no ill effects. Must be used to it by now.

It looks awesome with max graphics.

What? Wow + max graphics = awesome? That is an odd thing to say.
But I suppose not everyone cares about graphics quality the same. I'd say it''s okay.

Cartoony....would be the word I would use. But it is an art style the artists chose so if that is what it looks like then they succeeded. Looks similar to Torchlight.

Nothing wrong with that. I was simply referring to that the graphics is out of date compared to modern standards. So anyone interested in graphics would find the best option in wow to be dull.

The only thing that should interest you is how well graphics are executed in artistic and technical terms. Not how state of the art they are. Otherwise you may pass for a fool if you today criticize a game like Myst for its ugly graphics. Or pass for a fool tomorrow when you criticize a game like Crysis for its then ugly graphics.

But I suppose not everyone cares about graphics quality the same.
No. That's not just you that are an ignorant. Many people do think the same as you. It just so happens you will not find many of those around here.

Don't put me in the same category as graphics lovers. I'm quite different.
Graphics lovers would find wow and N64 games awful. I don't.
I know I have perceived games that have "excellent" graphics worse than some others that have "worse" graphics according to reviews/sources/whatever.

Would they? I love graphics but to expect current graphics in older games is insane. I just purchased KOTOR from D2D and it was released in 2003. Thankfully I was able to get it to run in 1600x900 and the game is a blast. The graphics by today's standards are horrific but the gameplay by today's standards is top notch.

Crysis, to me, didn't look any different than FarCry 2 and after playing FarCry 2 the jungles in Crysis look cartoony. Every game brings something different to the table but in the end if you play games....you can't ignore the graphics. I wouldn't lump graphics lovers into some insane category of people who only care about flash and pizazz and little for gameplay. I have not met many, if any, people like that. The problem comes when a modern game claims to have this or that graphics-wise but utterly falls flat. That is inexecusable. Wow, Torchlight, Overlord 2 and to some extent Borderlands are examples of great games with a chosen art style. The style works for those games. SPORE is also quite cartoony but it falls flat b/c it also lacks gameplay depth (OEM that is), was previously advertised as realistic in many a GDC presentation, and in the end is a very disappointing game. But games and graphics are all art and as such some will love one game for certain reasons while others will hate the game for the exact same reasons. I detest Civ 4 and any other Civ game b/c I find them annoying and boring but others swear that Civ 4 is the single best strategy game ever built.

But in the end....I love graphics as much as the next fella. Anyone who plays games and says they don't look for graphics is a liar. If I said I didn't love graphics my choice of video card would prove me wrong.

You haven't heard of the insane flame wars over which console produces the best graphics or people who flame a game just because it has inferior graphics?
There are a lot of them... insane graphics lovers.

However, Bubba, you sound like me when it comes to graphics.

I am in the camp of the PC people who say PC's can produce better graphics and consistently do. That is pretty much a known fact if you take a careful look at the underlying hardware. Anyone knows that. From a purely technical standpoint I can say for sure that the PC with the correct hardware as it stands now can chew up any console and spit it out later. Just the facts.

But I have seen the stupid debates online and agree with you that most of those people are clueless. I've seen advice given from well known sites that is just...um...plain wrong when it comes to hardware, upgrades, video cards, consoles, and pretty much anything to do with tech.

I'm not sure about the gamer culture, but if it's topical or not you can argue about anything. It seems like there is always some fringe group who loves and will defend games with horrible controls, too. Haters gonna hate.

Like Bubba says, it will be a sad day for gaming when games are interactive movies with minimal gameplay elements ... and... wait ...

Err... no one disputed that PCs are better when it comes to pushing out graphics.

Well just so you know I might be one of those 'insane' people you speak of. However the difference between myself and the others is I actually know what I'm talking about. I work with a guy who is more insane than me and is running a new NVidia 400 series card. Again he does not annoy me b/c the claims he makes are valid and legit as opposed to the claims I see touted all over the internet about this or that. The difference between all of us is that the insane ones are the ones who go touting this or that b/c they heard it from here or there. I don't mind talking to techy people who get excited about this or that game b/c it is gonna have A or B in it as long as they are not just foaming at the mouth.
