    apple's product are always innovative.
microsoft's product looks like modification to their old version with fancy gui.
    it is just my opinion.

The hardware angle seems pretty significant.
    C programming resources:
GNU C Function and Macro Index -- glibc reference manual
The C Book -- nice online learner guide
    Current ISO draft standard
CCAN -- new CPAN like open source library repository
    3 (different) GNU debugger tutorials: #1 -- #2 -- #3
cpwiki -- our wiki on sourceforge

From what I remember on the radio it was following a 4% fall in MS shares and a 0.4% fall in Apple's

With all the turbulence in the financial markets right now I'm not putting too much weight on it right now. I haven't checked but the situation might have reversed itself already.

MS does seem to be having trouble keeping up with the pace of things these days though.

Hahaha. Right. It used to be this way.

Lately, however, Apple has been quite the non-innovator. The iPad brings nothing truly new to the market, and the MacBook Pros that were released a month ago are incredibly sub-par. I used to respect Apple, right now they don't have my good graces at all.

I used to not like Microsoft one bit. I'm still not a huge fan by any means, but they are getting better. Regardless, Apple is basically going down the same road Microsoft went down in the 90s.

A.K.A. the road to making money.

Constant innovation doesn't sell... people want sparkly, flashy crap that performs the exact same way their old, bland crap performed before they upgraded. Some 60-70% of Windows users probably don't utilize even a fraction of the innovations that Windows has made since Windows 98 and still use the interface quite similarly to how they used it more than a decade ago.

The real reason Apple has been successful is because Apple has abandoned all integrity in its advertising campaign (not unlike their not-so-humble CEO) and humans respond favorably to humorous insulting regardless of substance.

    EDIT:

    By the way...

And this year, Mr. Jobs shook things up again, with the introduction of the iPad, a tablet computer that has the potential to create a new category of computers and once again reshape the way people interact with their devices.

It might be the #1 gadget company, but I wouldn't rank it high since it does not do that well in the desktopland.

All hype. A couple of stock prices change and some idiot announces Apple is #1. Hogwash.

Now if Apple capitalized on the fact that MS has abandoned the PC gamers and welcomed them in by supporting games on their platform I could see them picking up a bit. I dont understand MS. They make the 360, abandon the PC for games, and then wonder why their new OS's don't sell well. They will never admit that gamers make up a significant portion of their OS sales and gamers are the only idiots out there with any reasons to upgrade their current OS.

    That's me .

And no, Apple has not been very innovative lately. Just read up on the law suits / patent infringements / joint partnerships.

And now with Steam and all Valve games available
on the Mac, there's even less of a reason to use
    Windows for gaming.

I finally found someone to give my extra copy of HL2.

Steam on Linux is coming soon too! Well, supposedly anyways.

Because Phoronix says "it's official" and if it doesn't happen now, then everybody's going to be really sad. And Valve wouldn't let that happen, right? Right?
