New Style For Our Forum?
I want to know, what about a new skin for our forum? Something that is clean, modern and combines with old dial-up connections, what this forum likes to have and I appreciate, because this shows that it's open for all, even those that still don't have a better bandwidth.

Looks clean and modern to me. Since you are new here, maybe you could provide an example?
This thread is real deep...
*thinks...* "Perhaps I'll contemplate this for a few more hours."
This is the first forum I joined. It has looked (generally) like this since the beginning IIRC. I judge all other forums by this colour scheme, and they always fail. :D I would not object to having the option to change skins, but even if I had the option, I would never use it. And on second thought, I object to anyone else using it.
What's with people and change anyway? What's wrong with letting things just staying the same? Is it so hard? Change is bad. Bad. Innovation too. What you want is progress. But progress... takes time. And things should stay unchanged while they wait for progress.
Besides I had enough of traumatic experiences for some time. Google thought we needed a always-on sidebar and Wikipedia surely didn't event think when they did the crap they just did a few days ago. I fear for my health if Cboard changed its presentation.
Oh... and a new "skin" (how I learned to hate this word!) won't solve anyone's dialup problems if they indeed have them (which I do find odd considering how lightweight Cboard really is). Turning off images is one solution if indeed they have a problem with CBoard. Another is reducing the number of posts per page on the Cboard UserCP page.
I mean, it looks fine to me. I guess if you wanted a faster connection w/o paying for broadband, try a text-mode browser like elinks2 or elynx. You would be amazed how fast things load when 90 pct of the debris is removed. I am NOT saying this is a better choice for everyone or every site but it can be a neat experience..
The webmaster will not be happy with my comments. :D
The only new style I would like to see is one that blocks all polls.
If it aint broke, dont fix it
I will take a look and post a link. ;)

I used to access this with 56k dial-up and it was fine, there really was not that much difference between that and high speed (under which the site is instantaneous for me*). If all I did was cboard, actually, I would go back to dial-up. The page source for this thread right now is 102k, that doesn't include the images but there are barely any, they are small, and they are always the same so your browser will cache them anyway. The same is true for the various small css and js scripts used (they should be cached at your end).
Anyway, I'd object to any change because I fear the popularity of fixed width formats, which are almost always totally awful IMO.
