    Google "Places of Interest" Layers

Anyone else feel Google completely fubar'd this. You used to be able to expand this layer and select individual things (shopping centers, gas stations, dining establishments, etc) for display. Now it just a simple yes/no check box. You don't have a choice what to show or not show. It's just made things much more difficult for me to use personally.

    [edit]Talking about Google Earth BTW[/edit]

[edit2]Seems a lot of people here think the same thing.[/edit2]

[edit3]Click here to make a "suggestion" to the kind folks at Google to change it back.[/edit3]

Looks like Google has taken notice and will be shortly changing things back the way they were.

    Yay!

It's good (isn't it?) when a company "takes notice" something that was so obvious to everyone else. These are easy times for software designers.

Ok, apparently Google snuck in and fixed it a day or so after the above posts. I missed it because I kept looking at the Places of Interest checkbox that they still have up that I was expecting to disappear. The new PoI is still there and the old version (sorta) is now under More->Place Categories. Having Places of Interest checked is like going under More and checking both "Parks and Recreations Areas" and "Place Categories" simultaneously. Kinda redundant having both IMO but whatever...

Actually it's only kinda back the way it was. The "Transportation Layer" (metro/bus/airports) is still missing and will take awhile to get back but it's nice to see such quick response by Google.
