Probably because it was repetitious, no one is going to change the rules just for you, and apparently no one but you has a problem with the policy. So there's not much to discuss here dude.

Ignorance, you know, is not a valid defence in a court of law ("But I didn't know it was illegal" -- too bad).

I think that as far as mod's are concerned, the issue is settled (which would explain why the thread was closed). If you really want to press the matter further, you need to PM the mod's rather than reopening a thread on the topic.

    Cheers.

If you want to try you can, and they will -- people do get banned.

    Wrong forum.
    And guess again.

For someone who's afraid for their privacy on the internet, you talk too much.

How about you stop trolling? Or do you really think people in here haven't spotted you already?

billet - I closed it following a request from another board member. After reading the thread it seemed nothing else needed to be said so I closed it, as I will this one if you continue in this way.

If you want further clarity on my actions and intentions, see the attached. 'Nuf said...

I would have done that at your request if your thread had no useful replies. However, as it has useful replies, deleting the thread would do a disservice to those who did their best to help you. To honour your implied request that no further posts be made on your thread, I chose the next best option of closing it.

If they do, I ask them to find the smallest example that exhibits the problem and send me that. Mostly, they then find the error themselves. "Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.

billet, this is a public forum, and as such you must realize that everything you post on here is public. There may be some forums on the internet that allow deletion of threads, but I can assure you that probably very few forums just allow users to delete their threads at will. There is usually a policy in place behind thread deletion, as has already been explained by the other users and moderators so far in this (and the previous) thread(s).

In addition: if the code that you (and the other users) had posted initially in your original thread (when you asked your question) had been some top secret, highly innovative, restricted-by-an-NDA-type-of-code, I'm sure circumstances might be a little bit different...but quite frankly it was a simple problem with an informative solution that others might learn from to become better programmers.

Also: if this was a problem for school, most teachers/professors/TAs allow (very freely) for people to go out and get help on forums. That's why forums exist! To help people learn. No one will lower your grade or fail you because you came here to get help. They may lower your grade or fail you if you ended up plagiarizing code that someone else wrote for you, however. Therefore, when you get help, you should always make sure that you understand the concepts that people are teaching you, and then try to solve the problem yourself without looking at the code that has been given to you. If your personal solution ends up being the same (or similar) to one that was given to you, then so be it...as long as you understand for yourself and have learned for yourself what is going on.
