i keep hearing that they have no cell phone service. anyone have a spare 55 foot cell tower and equipment that they want to run down there on a boat ? i had an idea of putting the tower in a pick up truck hooked up like the tow truck are to the hitch and run the tower out of the bed on the beaches to give them temporary service. but that is all i have just an idea .fwiw.
The military use emergency repeaters attached to tethered weather balloons. No idea why FEMA and such agencies don't have access to this circa 1940's technology. You can deploy a 100 foot cell tower in under 15 minutes anywhere you can find enough dry land to park a van.
