Amazon Sellers

Sometimes I swear there are gerbils working at these places. Here is the book I ordered -
Amazon.com: 'C++ and Algorithms: Neural Network Processing (9780536813862): Alex Peter: Books

here is the book they sent me -

Amazon.com: C++ Programming and Object-Oriented Programming I and II with CD-ROM (9780536182463): H.M. Deitel, P.J. Deirel: Books

Call me ignorant, but I would guess the "Product Description" for the first book belongs with the second book, so this is evidently more than just a shipping error.

I got that beat.

A couple weeks ago, I ordered PNG: The Definitive Guide, but received Java 2 (as in 1.2) Certification Study Guide.

If the study guide was more expensive, you could sell it and try again, but this time with a profit

I'm thinking a study guide for Java 1.2, copyright '99, probably isn't a high ticket item.

What was interesting, after I cancelled my order, what the seller pinging me a week or so later, asking me if I had received this Java book. I was totally surprised and said yes. And, I told the seller that the postal address and shipper name was not his, there was no way to contact the seller through Amazon, and that there was no sales slip in the package or tucked away in the book either. Sort of a "could you have screwed this up any more", combined with a "serves you right - you idiot" response. He told me to keep it.

I'll be donating it to the local used book store for points.

I've never had any problems with Amazon and I actually use it often. I am a lucky person.

I've been ordering from Amazon for several years and never had any problems until this August with one shipment. After few messages going both ways and 45 days later they've sent this order again so I finally received my books this monday.

I have ordered maybe 100 books so far and I had problems with only one shipment. That's pretty good I suppose.

P.S. I've noticed that HM Deitel is author of the second book. Clicking on his name at Amazon reveals that he co-wrote half of the computing titles out there.

Googling around reveals that "Paul J. Deitel and his father, Dr. Harvey M. Deitel, are the world’s best-selling programming language textbook authors." Soon they'll have an iPhone development book and I discovered them just a few weeks ago when I added that book to my WishList.

a friend of mine ordered NBA for Xbox 360, it cost 460 DKK he paid 3000 and something in DKK, and this was from Amazon xP Amazon claimed that his Visa wasn 't working so he tried often, but infact it ordered a new copy of the game each time xP
I paid double tax for my game when I ordered from Amazon.

That is why you don't hit refresh when purchasing online. That is not an Amazon error but it is a stupid user error and can happen with any web site where you purchase items.

I've ordered many many books and games from Amazon and the most trouble I've ever had was a CD that was smashed to bits in the back of the book.

No, amazon actually has the ISBN's messed up, as the book i received has the ISBN 0-536-81386-8, which amazon lists as the ISBN for the book I ordered, but the two books are quite obviously not the same or even about the same subject. One is a basic C/C++ guide, the one I ordered (by title not ISBN) is about advanced neural network implementations in C/C++.
