    Gmail error

Anyone else getting an error message when accessing your gmail account since the last Firefox update?

    Error
Some Gmail features have failed to load. If this problem persists, try reloading the page, using the older version, or using basic HTML mode. Learn More.
I get this every time I access through HTTPS. But not when going through HTTP.

Yes, I've been getting that fairly consistently in Firefox for a while, now. Unfortunately, for me it's not as simple as the protocol... seems fairly random.

Yeah well, that gives me a compile error.

If you folks don't mind, when a real browser doesn't work, I switch to another real browser. Using Opera. I think that's more in line with what Thantos was suggesting.

My sentiments exactly. Chrome has some growing up to do.

No it doesn't. chrome is intended to be a light weight browser, not a full featured browser. Its for people that just need to browse, not run web enabled applications, although it can do that as well. I find that it loads web pages much faster than IE or FF, so I use it for 95% of my browsing. The other 5% is just govt sites that don't support chrome officially, and pop up a screen saying so, even though you can skip the screen and it works fine, I just open them in IE so i don't have to go through that extra step.

Gah, will this turn into a browser war thread? Let everyone use the browser they want.
As for the error, I don't get it, but that error tends to rear its ugly head now and then, at random times, but always goes away some time later.

Outside of your DOS world, your header file is meaningless.

I use chrome on my windows box and I love it. I, personally, don't need a lot of extra in my browser. I tried using a dev version of chrome on my mac box but it didn't seem to run that well. Will have to try again after the mac port gets further along.

My one and only annoyance with opera is the lack of a nice gmail notifier. Or one that works for me. It forces me to use a google's own email notifier which I'd rather not since I prefer to keep my taskbar with only the essentials.

As for Chrome, just doesn't work for me. I like my browser to be fully featured and include such things as content block, fine tuned control over javascript and flash, ability to store notes, and other niceties. Meanwhile kudos on Chrome for being fast. But I really don't give a rat's arse if my webpages takes 0.17 more seconds to launch.

Doesn't it hide in the systray, though?
If you are worried about that, then you will be pleased to know that Win7 offers a feature to hide and shut up chosen icons in the systray. Nice feature if I may say so.

Yeah. I meant system tray, not taskbar.

I thought I'd throw a crazy idea out there, why not use a mail client instead of a web browser to check your email.

Too much learning overhead for me. Btw Epiphany is a good underrated browser. Definitly worth checking out.
