| Obviously you have the PG-13 version, but that's Vanna, thank god! Altho she's no AFF IMO. Evony EVONY evONY Witness, we may have made this much worse, google logic wise, by having an entire thread with "Evony" in the title and including numerous links to Evony related content. evoNY EVONY Evony Evony evony eVony? | I believe it is pronounced like ebony but with a v (at least, the kids pronounce it that way in Skype) Prog, have you cleared your cookies and restarted your browser? |

| I just did. Seems to have solved the issue. I would agree with banned. That's how I translate it inside my head as well.

| I really dislike these Evony people. The use about 20 URLs to make it hard to block them with the competitive ad filter. (Try Googling it! Here's a representative thread: Filtering Evony Game Ads - AdSense Help) Anyway, I tried using the "master list" that folks have come up with--it totals 31 separate URLs. If you see further ads, let me know! (Give it a few hours for the filter to kick in though.) |

| Actually, (sorry to continue this discussion) It has almost become an "epidemic".... See, google ads works by rotating the ads..... So, if we had 100 advertiser links and one advertiser has 31 different links to ads, then they get displayed more often then the remaining 69. I have a friend that has a website that uses google ads to box her site (ads on both sides, top and bottom) But, now, it has become the Evil game ad website. And, if you were to google "Evony Spam" you will see just how much love the game has acquired by the propaganda campaign Oh, and MK, the advert featuring a fairy was apparently taken from costumecraze.com, and was pulled for copyright infringements (Or so I'm told) and here's an interesting article: http://info.evonypress.com/2009/07/1...m-desperation/ Last edited by Banned; 08-03-2009 at 07:48 PM. |

![]() And it's google, not evony, that is to blame for the consequences of google policies. If you feel strongly about this, you and/or your friend should write google with some criticism. I'm sure many people already have. I help to maintain a site where we have a lot of daily links to news articles, and occasionally have to write to new organizations because some of them have outrageous redirect policies (either to advertising, or their front page) if you link to one of their articles. My general line is "We can no longer link to articles from your site because it makes us look like we post bad or false links...would you consider changing your policy?" Of course, this almost never works, but you might as well try to address the cause of the problem at the same time as you address the symptom, or else those symptoms will probably re-occur. | Thanks for your diligence, webmaster. Those ads had me worried that someone could walk by my cubicle at work and wonder what the heck I'm surfing. Whereas the C Board would be perfectly within my job description. It's sad that the internet is becoming so scummy that any extra effort at all is required to just put things back on topic, so to speak. Leisure / gaming / adult entertainment vs. work related / educational... there ought to be an obvious divide. Pop-up ads everywhere have tainted many websites and brought them down to the level of the lowest sleaze merchants. I wonder if the internet will ever get better, or is it doomed to go more down the potty every day. |

| As long as we keep demanding the internet to be a free place built "by the people for the people", this is what we'll get. The alternative is much scarier.

@nonoob: why don't you just use an adblocker like everyone else? Or do you get bonus points if the boss walks by and sees you contemplating that bland corporate "no fancy pants" tish* I bet MS paid the big bucks for something that most people could slap together in half an hour, severely drunk, which might explain why the OS is such a bargain Gag me with a spoon!* "Hey nonoob! | I've been doing some reading and it looks like the person in behind Evony, Eric Lam, also runs a chinese goldfarming operation and is facing a lawsuit from Microsoft for clickthough fraud. It also looks like Lam is abusing the adsense system by using close to 100 different urls, making it virtually impossible to filter the ads. Users are ........ed because they have to look at the ads. Webmasters are ........ed because these ads are pushing out the relevant ads. Google is doing nothing.

| I think I would need to pass an adblocker past our corporate software validation procedure. Which basically means they won't respond. Heaven help me if I have any "unauthorized" software on my machine here at work. And yes, MK27, I'm still holding out for that promotion for having a bland desktop. Bland is our company's middle name. |
