    Billy Mays: dead at age 50

    It's been an eerie week.

    Mays definitely changed the face of advertising. Let's have no arguments about that. His infomercials were a major influence on everyone in the business from the ShamWow guy to the woman who sells the fluffy pet steps.

    He Twittered yesterday how a rough plane landing caused something heavy to fall on his head. US Airways' response? "Billy Mays was not wearing his seatbelt." Yeah, like that would have helped. Here's hoping they get their asses sued off. Landing gear tires are blowing out just a little too frequently for my tastes recently. I'm actually becoming afraid of flying.

    The last thing I remember him doing is the NeverScrubber. Not exactly the most dignified ultimate achievement, so I hope you're right.

    Smartass.

    Yep, we also lost Farrah Fawcett and Ed McMahon. Damn.
    Code:
    #include <cmath>
    #include <complex>
    bool euler_flip(bool value)
    {
        return std::pow
        (
            std::complex<float>(std::exp(1.0)),
            std::complex<float>(0, 1)
            * std::complex<float>(std::atan(1.0)
            *(1 << (value + 2)))
        ).real() < 0;
    }

    Didn't Mays also sell the FlowBee - a haircutting attachment for vacuum cleaners?

    Heard something on the radio this morning. Said he was on a flight that ran into trouble shortly before his death and some items from the overhead bins fell out upon landing and hit him on the head. The radio also hinted that his death may have been of a similar reason to what Natasha Richardson had died from (she died days after hitting her head during a skiing vacation).
    "Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are god. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods."

    Probably. And unfortunately, this sort of thing is often not detected until it's too late. There aren't really any nerve cells in the brain, so unless a major physiological or psychological symptom surfaces the injury is basically undetectable.
    Code:
    #include <cmath>
    #include <complex>
    bool euler_flip(bool value)
    {
        return std::pow

        ).real() < 0;
    }

    It's pretty common. Over the years I've read tons of news stories in which some young guy came home drunk after having knocked his head or been punched in a fight - and seems totally fine until of course his family find him lying dead in bed in the morning.

    Actually the local channel 7 news just broadcast that he had a fatal heart attack. Coroners found no sign of brain trauma related to the earlier incident, according to the report. WXYZ's link is broken though, so I can't link anything. If it's true you'll hear about his autopsy in a while.

    Also I wanted to post this: YouTube - Billy Mays Orders Food From A McDonald's Drive Thru

    Maybe it's in poor taste, but Billy Mays seemed to have been in an especially good mood. That's how I want to remember him, anyway.
