Is that the same thing as ray tracing, like Wolfenstein 3D, or DOOM?

search the internet!!! if raycasting doesn't yeild any results, then search for raytracing...

also, have a look at www.irtc.org for some really funky raytraced pictures.

I already tried that but it returned around 492 results. Checking that out is gonna give you a pain in the head.

No one said you have to check them all out. Just look through a few until you find what you're looking for

Try www.peroxide.dk/tutorials and search for their wolfenstein ray casting tutorials. It's in pascal though (however, pascal is so high level that it looks like english. So you'll have no trouble understanding)

DOOM & Wolf3D use raycasting, not raytracing.
Ray tracing is another process for precisely calculating lighting in 3D scenes that is too slow to be used in real-time (currently)

Yes, take Coder's advice and go to www.peroxide.dk/tutorials and download the raycasting tuts as well as the source code. These are the most comprehensive raycasting tuts I've found.

Listing Denied" page when following the peroxide-
    link?

    ??

edit: Nevermind, I found it. peroxide.dk/tut.htm
