    Here are two EBOOKS which came with a kit I bought

    They're .pdf's, so you're going to have to get Acrobat from Adobe (www.adobe.com)
    One is DirectX 7 in 24 hours, and the other is VC++ in 21 days. I hope these are as useful to you people as they were to me. You can download them here.

    The kit was 'Game programming Starters kit 6.0' by MacMillian Publishing, it was $60 canadian, but well worth it. You'll be unable to download the files from 12:00PM - 8:00AM Atlantic Time (GMT -4:00)

    The direct X book covers D3D, maybe you should try that..
    I don't have to book you're looking for.. nor can I find it, sorry.
