    Neat site for programming your own console

    I have read several of LaMothe's books (I own at least one, I think) but I didn't really know what the XGamestation was. I guess his company designed and fabricated a basic console unit (I do believe LaMothe has a degree in Electrical Eng.) that you can program from the assembly level. Costs $200, the price of a mid level video card. I personally think this is about the coolest thing I've seen in a while. I wouldn't expect to do insane graphics with it, but if you're really interested in this stuff check 'er out.

    heh, looks like it would be fun to play with but i wouldnt spend $200 on it. i can emulate for free

    I did, and it still looks cool. I just like the idea of working with relatively simple circuitry and programming everything from the ground up. But yeah, the demos aren't the best

    I've been following the xgamestation from early on in its development. I don't think I would buy one but it has been really interesting to watch LaMothe work on this and talk to everyone in the IRC room about it and programming. I'd really only suggest it if you have the extra money to spend and no other way to gain the knowledge it will give you, but its always nice to support LaMothe.
