    Source code....

has anyone got any source code to a basic rpg with a map editor? im planning on making a 2d mmorpg engine but need a basic map editor to build on. also, if anyone had the source code to a basic 2d mmorpg engine that would be better. (c++) i want to make a 3d MMORPG with thousands of people joined and at least 500 people online at all times when im older (like 2 or 3 years older, and i mean that not in completion time but thats probably the amount of time it will take for me to be a good enough proggramer AND have a good team.) but thats far away so im starting of with a 2d engine. YES I HAVE HEARD THE OLD "make a pong game first, make a simple rpg ext. and i probably will seeing as i havent even done the 23 begginers tutorials on the site yet, but i just need source to study. i looked on sourceforge

If we gave you the source code all it would do is confuse you.

You must crawl before you can walk, my friend.

Get some books on C/C++ to start with. Tutorials will only take you so far. www.amazon.com is your friend as well as www.google.com.

Well quite frankly you are being rude. I'm sitting here coding thousands of lines for my games and projects and you want me to just dish it out at random? Don't think so. Besides like I said it would only confuse you, future reference or not. You will get nowhere by reading my source.

I readily have posted hundreds if not thousands of lines of source code on this board relating to many, many game programming subjects. There are others on here that have done likewise. Do a board search and you will find a lot of information is stored here - more than meets the eye.

    I just need a link.
No you just need a better attitude and a better approach. Go buy some books, dive in, code a couple thousand lines, read a tutorial...attempt it in code, read another book,........etc, etc.

There is no way I can simply sit here and tell you how to do everything you asked in one post. Heck I couldn't even do it in one book. You fail to realize just how much goes into one of these beasties called a game engine.

I haven't even touched multiplayer at all yet in my game code - I'm still working on just getting resource management down pat, refining the framework, debugging the code, etc, etc.

So there is no LINK to just give you that explains the art of game programming.
