    Lightbulb

    I just released version 1.9 !

It is a lot smaller (3.4 MB), and I added a lot of new features. It also comes with a new campaign, "Ice".

I also added a feature where you can place modified graphics in the "\Art\Mod" directory. It will then override the original graphics, so you don't have to move the old graphics.

I added an outer space level for fun, it's in the "Challenges" campaign. There are also two new turrets, but they only appear in a couple levels so far.

I played a game LIKE this on www.(cant remeber).com but it was called Castle defence and had stickmen and everything...
Yea, I got the original inspiration for this game from it, it's at http://www.xgenstudios.com

What level has everyone gotten to on endless mode? I was somewhere around 16, my score was 2339, on regular difficulty.

I found the best method so far is to save up for quad mini guns, and put them all over the place.

Rutabega, are those your graphics? they are stunning compared to mine
I was trying to keep it to the simple stick figures, but with camo and stuff.

Wow... say, what art program are you using? Im on MS Paint.

Does anybody else have the problem where the game just quits out of nowhere and returns to the desktop?

Yes Blizzarddog, those are my graphics.

I tried MS Paint, but found it to be too limiting in annoying ways. So I'm using Adobe Photoshop. I'm not using any of the 'special' features though, just selecting a color and drawing it. Copy and paste helps to speed things up.

I've been busy lately and have not had time to draw any more graphics, but I may be able to after Christmas.

When does this happen? If it happens at the world map when you click on a level, I fixed it and it will be all good in the next release.

Also, for graphics, I mostly use MS-Paint, but I do use Corel Photopaint 8 for the more complicated graphics, like the explosions.

I expect to release version 2.0 sometime soon too, maybe about Christmas.

It's when I'm in the middle of a game.

Oh, and why does the transparency go away in this image? I used the same color for the background as the rest (in fact, it's just a modified graphic from rudabega with blood in it)

wow, 1.9 roxors those quad guns really make endless easier, though the missile launcher is prety useless... except in those corridor maps where all the tanks come in lines

anywho, just a as a suggestion, i think it would make life a bit easier for beginners to use the interface if you mapped the left/right mouse keys to railgun/artillery/discgun.

I might add doing some grahpics to my to do list along with my aston theme and DevID

Make sure the background/transparency color is the pure color and the same color as the original. The easiest way is to just fill over the background with the correct color. I had to fill over the background's for Rutabega's images to get them to work; for some reason they were a little off.

"I had to fill over the background's for Rutabega's images to get them to work"

Hmm, that's strange. They all worked for me as far as recall. It could be that I saved them as just 16 bit bmp's instead of 32 to make them smaller.

    A question:
In some of your graphics you used a white background for transparency, and in others you used pink - why the difference?

The only difference was for my convenience When I made a new graphic, I would usually just pick magenta ,black, or white for the background, depending on the color of the graphic. The transparency color is then simply hard coded into the program. I should probably just convert everything to magenta backgrounds though, to make life easier...

or maybe you could have a text file with the transparent rgb values in it, which you then just process on program start.

Converting to magic pinky is good though, it's standard, if a little hard to live with sometimes. I guess that's why its never really used in REAL images
