    comilers

Here are some questions I haven't seen, is there a direct X or OpenGL compiler, or do you have to use a compiler with those capabilities. Do you use those in conjunction with your c++ (or c)compiler or are they stand-alone? Or are they just libraries with header files?

You use your normal compiler/linker, and you #include the correct headers and link the correct libraries.

so where would I get direct X libraries, I can't find them at the directx site.
I use borland's free turbo c++ command-line compiler 5.5, do I have to use some other compiler if I do get the libraries?

You need the DirectX 9 SDK, which is available for free from Microsoft if you have broadband, or for a few dollars if you need it mailed to you. I think there might be a link in the sticky at the top of this forum
    Away.

Well, if you care, this is a link to Nvidia's compiler. I've heard it has full MS VC++ integration...

It's used to compile vertex programs for DirectX.
