man, for text based RPG's, I suggest you try to just make a intro screen, as 3d cinematics take way too much time(can we say 3d modeling software, along with a movie encoder).

now for subject 2, why dont you PM one of the mods if you are worried about him. I dislike him to, but its not work my time to report him.

    Issue #1:

3D cinematics, that will be a little tough. Think about it, even if you displayed the FMV it wouldn't look right in a Text-Based game. Just stick to the basics and work your way up

    Issue #2:

Don't worry if someone calls your game lame. Everyone is a beginner at some point and it is ridiculous to make fun of someone else's hard work. Just keep programming because you like it and ignore the ignorant.

    Have a nice day.

dang right, just think, in ten years, you'll have a nice job at a large company while he is scraping food of the ground in an alley.

I'm not trying to offend you in any way, but why make a FMV just for a simple text game? If you know how, you can make a simple menu based windows program that launches your game, and make it show a GIF animation when you start the game and have music in the background, or something like that. When I start porting stuff over to DX, that is what I'm probably going to do. I personally like Microsoft GIF Animator, which is free with Microsoft Frontpage, but there are lots of other freebies all over the place.
