You've got someone working for you for seven days and a gold bar to pay them. The gold bar is segmented into seven connected pieces. You must give them a piece of gold at the end of every day. If you are only allowed to make two breaks in the gold bar, how do you pay your worker?

block 3: segment of 4 pieces
day 1: give block 1
day 2: ask block 1, give block 2
day 3: give block 1
day 4: ask block 1 and 2, give block 4
etc, etc
Give them the entire bar.
