Dx Sdk
I was thinking of getting into dx, but msdn isn't very specific. Obviously I need the sdk (which is like 120Megs!). So the question remains what do I need to use it? I'm using mingw now. I know this sounds like a stupid question but I don't want to download something that I can't use.

All you need to use it is a compiler. The SDK is header files, help files, examples, etc..
Not sure what exactly you're looking to do, but if you plan to buy any programming books in the future and you only have a 56K connection, you might want to buy a book that includes the SDK on the accompanimant CD (like one of Prima's books). Search amazon.com and read the synopsis' for some of the Prima books to see if they have it (if that works for you).

About the SDK...
Where am I able to download the SDK for DX8? I have MSVC++ 6.0 Standard Edition, and I want to get the SDK.

Thanks for the advice jdinger. I am running on a 56k connection so a book w/ sdk cd isn't a bad idea. I'll go see what I can find now that I know I can use the sdk.

Some Info
I just thought I would inform you of this. Get a program called GetRight 4.5, and you can download the SDK over time. That's what I'm doing, because I have 56K, too. You can download the SDK in segments. For example, if you get disconnected, you can resume the download when you get back online. :-D It's great! Get it at http://www.download.com.

I dunno, i've been using fresh download for some time and don't have many complaints.

I prefer Download Accelerator Plus myself.
