    CONTROLS:

WASD or Arrow Keys to move around
    mouse to aim and shoot.
    R to reload
M to spawn spiders to shoot at.
You can edit testworld.txt in the data folder to add walls and the like.

No special skills yet more or less just a simple basic layout of the game. I would like to know FPS on some other systems if you could give me basic stats on your systems as you test it will help me see where I am usage wise on different computers. I am far from finished just wanting some feedback on the current game play.

I run at 31 FPS(max allowed), but I have a quad core with 16 gigs of ram and a 2 gig dedicated video card.

    My system P4 HT 3.4Ghz. 1 GbRam 1Gb HD 4760.
    Average FPS = 17.
You might want to double the FPS around 30. Noticed a little bit of lag.

Of course, an ".exe" file that I couldn't run even if I wanted to.

And this board is really for game development (with source).

Since I plan to port to a multiplayer platform, source at the moment would probably allow exploits. Cboard is known for it's trolls if someone requests the source then I may give it to them, but as it stands now only those involved in the game have that access. 42 files worth of code and growing.

No one is going to run an executable from an unknown source. Provide a link to the source so others can compile it.

Then don't, I will not provide links to source based on the fact someone can compile it and call it their own. Or generate and find exploits. Don't download it then w/e. I trust you as little as you trust me.

Then hire an actual tester. I don't care how much you trust me. For all I know, you could have downloaded someone else's source and compiled it as your own.

Otherwise, don't expect anyone to download your application and help you without the source. This sub-board is designed for programmers who are working on games and need help/advice regarding their code. Not for people that dump pre-compiled applications and hope someone will download them.

Even when posting code you all couldn't help. Remember the post over here fstream problem ? Got run around in circles. Funny enough posting on stackoverflow (c++ - ifstream fail bit being set unsure why - Stack Overflow) got useful responses and quickly pointed out that fstream doesn't release handlers as quickly as I thought it did. According to you all my problem is off in some other .cpp file. So will I post my 42 files of source for whomever to download? No. All I had asked for was a FPS readout with basic system information so I know what kind of demand I am dealing with. As for being reputable I can't trust you any more than you can trust me. I don't mind posting my old dead projects that I have no intention of working on any more, but that is about it. There are very few people that I trust wouldn't go randomly repost and/or claim my code that I work on roughly 4 hours a day after work.

If you don't trust us to honor you, why would you trust us to solve your problems?

Why the ........ are you still here?

I post on 2 boards here and over at allegro when I have issues. If after that neither board can solve the issue I post it on stackoverflow. Once upon a time I got very useful help from this forum maybe I still had hopes for it to be useful.

You get useful help when you provide useful information. We would be glad to help you if your question was more specific and you gave us something to work with. A general request to "test this .exe" is not something that I can/will fulfill.

For example, if you're noticing low FPS, you could examine/profile your code and find where it's using the most processor power and lagging the game. You could then post that bit of code with a request for advice on optimization, which would definitely get useful replies from people.

Well since we do not know anything then why did you ask? And what does your previous post have to do with you posting an exe online in today's world and expecting software engineers and software savvy people to download it, run it, and give you feedback? Do you think we are crazy? I wouldn't download an exe in a post written by my own mother much less you.

If you really think someone is going to have time to browse through your code, steal parts of it, claim it as their own, and make something out of it you are a bit misinformed. Anyone who could understand the code probably would want to do it differently anyways and would not need to steal it. Those who just outright steal code don't get very far when they realize that all the stolen pieces have to fit together and they lack the skills to do it.

When my code supports editing of text files to design levels, and add creatures, how much work would it really take. I dot notice slow frame rates - ever on anything be it Starcraft 2 or the new fps that releases. If your worried about viruses then scan it for all I care there isn't anything harmful in the code. People copy and paste code a lot why would you all be any different? When I run the program I run at the maximum fps I doubt I can load enough monsters on one screen to slow it down to 30 or 29 fps. If your still worried about getting a virus use Linux and open it in a sandbox. There are plenty of safe ways to do things. Except in this case your trolling for code.

I really doubt anyone here is trolling for your code, especially VirtualAce(He can make his own stuff). If you are really worried about it tag a license agreement to the code and if you actually turn it into a profitable game sue the heck of out whoever stole your code. Anyways good luck with testing and your development.

I don't know what you are talking about.

No one here could possibly code a top-down "shmup" with 42 entire files.
