Problem with DX9 SDK for C#

I just installed DX 9.0b SDK for C#, and it doesn't seem to have installed correctly. The only thing I can think of is that I'm using the beta version of VC#. None of the samples show anything, although they do keep a process that I have to close with CTRL+ALT+DEL. Whenever I try to compile any of the examples it says the namespace DirectX does not exist in Microsoft.

Man, I now have sympathy for the C++ newbies. I think I'll stop bashing them as bad

Okay, this is weird. I installed the SDK, yet it did not install any DLL's into the .NET directory.

edit: I just installed the full SDK instead of the C# one, and it works, but it's screwy. I had to use subst to make a new drive the corresponds to C:\Windows\assembly, browse into it, go through GAC and manually copy the DLL files into C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET.
