Will .NET Replace COM/ActiveX?

This is a discussion on Will .NET Replace COM/ActiveX? within the C# Programming forums, part of the General Programming Boards category; I get the impression COM/ActiveX will become largely redundant in the future. Is this true?...

*takesADeepLookIntoHisMagicITCrystalBall* hmmmmm.... I see things... events... mountains... evil men... activeX controls... COM components... aaaaaaaaaahhh... *gasp*

The future is changing all the time. It's impossible to see more at this time.

Seriously, I hope it will replace those constructs, they are horribly clumsy compared to .NET components.

    YES.

.NET Framework has no use for that GLUE to hold together different lang. modules. It will continue to support COM/ActiveX only for compatibility with older programs.
