C# books and programming in Linux environments

    Hi guys,

I have to learn some C# and .NET, are there any reference books? Also, is it possible and reliable to program C# and VB.NET in Linux? I'm trying to avoid installing Windows just for C#.

I have found out about Mono, but do you know any alternatives or do you have any experience with Mono?

    Thanks

If you want .NET on Linux, you need Mono. That's about it.
