compile goes crazy???

Alright I've taken a cource on C++ so I am not completly dumbfounded.

Here's what we got:

(See attachment. Don't know code tags yet.)

I am pretty sure the code is right, yet when I go to compile this tab called cstddef rears its ugly head going on about #include <stddef.h>.

This has never happened before, how can I make it stop!?

Just surround the code posted with
and
.

Sounds like you're using a C compiler, compiling as C, or using an outdated C++ compiler.

I get maybe two dozen requests for help with some sort of programming or design problem every day. Most have more sense than to send me hundreds of lines of code. If they do, I ask them to find the smallest example that exhibits the problem and send me that. Mostly, they then find the error themselves. "Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.

Great program! What is end1, though?
I might be wrong.

Thank you, anon. You sure know how to recognize different types of trees from quite a long way away.

Yeah, great.
Next time you decide to pollute the board with your profanity, it will be your last.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.
