    date to unix time conversion

    well I have a date format like so: 2006-07-07 (its a std::string)
    and I would like to convert this to a unix timestamp, does anyone know how this is done?
    and I am not using unix, so if its only a function native to unix then I can not use it.

    thanks a lot,

    Populate a struct tm with an sscanf, the do a mktime.
