    You need to compile it
Dev-C++ is the easiest compiler ever made.
I've installed it 4 times on different computers or after formats. Everything always works fine.

It's no longer properly developed. It's been stuck for years in a (admittedly very stable) pre-release. With all due respect, I consider that "something wrong".

It also, in years of development, failed to implement a simple "Keep console open" wrapper, leading to hosts of newbies using it to come to various programming forums and ask the same question over and over. (Despite the answer being in the FAQ.)

And just to nitpick: it's not a compiler. It's an IDE. GCC is the compiler.

@CornedBee: I don't think it's really a good feature. It makes less hardcore newbies ask THE question... but they remain ignorant for quite more time.

I don't consider that "something wrong" unless it has some serious bugs in it that need fixing.

Ignorant of what? How to make a program stall for no reason just before exiting?

I'll gladly have them remain ignorant of that.

Max... What about C::B is Primative? I come from using Dev-C++ and VS2005 and it seems like a nice health mix of the 2. The nice IDE features of VS without the bloat and required MS compiler.
