Command line programs in Visual Studio

    My question is simple:

How do you get a command line application made in Visual Studio to keep the command line window open when the application is actually finished running. Normally it just closes the window making it impossible to see output. Within Visual Studio it works fine because VS adds the "Press enter to continue" which blocks. I tried doing something similar with getch() from conio.h and getchar() from stdio.h but neither of those work. If I run the app from within cmd.exe it works fine, but I want it to be a standalone .exe. Anyone know how to do this?
