Because the existing protocols are so complex for my application. I will be used just for a LAN. No need to implement a comples protocol!
I've just recently completed a working windows chatroom type program. It works well with multiple clients. If you email me or something I'm sure I could help you out. I've only been using asynchronous sockets though, so it depends on your design.
