a messanger client/server

I want to write a messanger program that uses its own protocol ( i mean I want to implement my own protocol), could you suggest me any useful resources (URL, RFC, Tutorial, etc...)

Why not write an IM client or server that uses an existing protocol, such as Jabber/XMPP? Or, instead of writing from scratch, you can help in the development of an existing program.

Because the existing protocols are so complex for my application. I will be used just for a LAN. No need to implement a comples protocol!

I've just recently completed a working windows chatroom type program. It works well with multiple clients. If you email me or something I'm sure I could help you out. I've only been using asynchronous sockets though, so it depends on your design.
