writing little games are good for learning the language, but don't plan to make a career of writing MS-DOS games, there isn't much of a commercial market for them. The "see what I can do" approach in 8th grade is indeed pretty impressive for such a young person and an accomplishment to be proud of. However ... that doesn't even scratch the surface of the things you need to learn. You probably already know more about programming than your grade-school, middle-school and high-school teachers, so to continue your education you will probably have to do outside studies on your own. Go to your local library and see if they have more advanced programming books.

Man, I'm jealous you guys actually HAVE teachers that know computers. I mean people think that the web design teacher at my school knows a lot about computers. When I was in her class she acted as if her trying to teach us HTML was a huge deal. She said that we wouldn't get into it much because we would be using Frontpage.....When do you become smart for knowing how to use Frontpage!?!? I mean HTML is the most basic scripting I have seen. I never really told many kids I was into programming in 8th grade, some of my friends knew in 8th but now everyone, or most everyone, in my grade knows I am. Yes, I have also noticed that very basic programs are impressive to "basic computer users". Your right Dae, I never actually used sin, cos, or tan functions so I didn't know whether it was radians or degrees.

I'm jealous too. We would have programming courses at my school, but they never get created because of the lack of interest. So we get like.. web design principles, woo hoo, HTML ftw? uh.. no.

We don't have them because no teacher at my school could teach programming courses. So I can only discuss programming on this forum, because none of my friends are into programming. I'm thinking about starting a programming club where maybe I could teach some kids about it and then they could learn on their own after I get them started. Then I would have people I could discuss programming with, and work on projects.

Heh. My highschool was rather interesting. They taught AutoCAD, 3D Studio MAX, QBASIC (stop laughing), and finally offered PC Repair (only AFTER I left). Managed to get the 3D Studio stuff though. So much fun.
