The question to be asked is what type of programs do you want to make? Then, we can tell you if c+ is a good fit.

you can make games with C++, but with just these tutorials you'd be able to make programs that run from a command prompt. so you'd be able to make games that run in a command prompt. nothing like Half-Life 2 or Quake, or even Solitaire, lol. but if you read those tutorials and learn and practice it, then once you have it down you can go on to learn more and the more you learn, the more you can make which would be something like win32 api programming or MFC.
