There is no limit on filesize defined by the standard tho implementations vary. Pretty much all should be fine until 2Gb. Some may do 4Gb. Some 64 bit compilers much more.

I am using Visual C++ version 6. From their documentation fstream supports only up to 2GB. I wonder if there is any way to get around this problem.
Yes, use the OS specific API, if that supports larger file sizes.
