    Enum

    Hi, maybe I should post this on Game prog board, but to do a difficulty setting for a game, would one of lines have to be somthing like this:

    Code:
    enum difficulty{east, normal, hard};
    i could be well out of scope, but it is an idea of what I could use, any ideas?

    Seems a reasonable idea to me.
    If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
    If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

    Are you planning on having a west difficulty too? Sorry, couldn't resist.

    You might want to read up on the uses of enums. You don't have to do it that way, but you can.
    If I did your homework for you, then you might pass your class without learning how to write a program like this. Then you might graduate and get your degree without learning how to write a program like this. You might become a professional programmer without knowing how to write a program like this. Someday you might work on a project with me without knowing how to write a program like this. Then I would have to do you serious bodily harm. - Jack Klein

    Code:
    enum difficulty{east, normal, hard};
    And then to use the enum,
    Code:
    enum difficulty level = normal;
    // ...
    if(level == hard) {
        // ...
    (Although in C++ you can leave out the enum keyword when you declare an instance of an enum.)
