Switch back to DOS? Upgrade your graphics toolkit?

It is not that old programmers are any smarter or code better, it is just that they have made the same stupid mistake so many times that it is second nature to fix it.
--Me, I just made it up
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

The program you are trying to compile was written for a specific compiler, and a specific operating system / platform.
If you want to use a different compiler, and run it on a different operating system, you will need to re-write the non-standard parts of the code. This is called porting the program, and it is uaually rather difficult. Sometimes it's easier to start-over and simply re-write the program.
There are no graphics in standard-portable C++. (There is a Windows 32-bit API standard which is portable between Windows compilers.)
