    Books for novice/intermediate programmers

can anyone suggest a good C++ book to learn from?
ive been learning from tutorials on the net for a while, but i need a good book. i know most of the basics, but need something that explains the more complex subjects within C++, and has good examples.
ive searched on this forum already, but i need to be certain which book to get.
Programming windows by Charles Petzold is the book ive chosen for winAPI programming, so how about C++?
